Community
At Calvin we have a number of Community Service Initiatives.
- We collect things like: glasses, stamps, food...
- We volunteer our time in many areas...
- We give our monies to support the work in God's world...
We strive to be good stewards of the gifts (time, skills, money, and more) that God has entrusted us with.
See below for more information on specific community projects.
Lettuce Reach Out: One week of every month Calvin purchases, donates and drops off heads of lettuce to the Gathering Place. Each month dedicated volunteers sign up for one (or more) days. Ten heads of leafy greens are delivered to the Gathering Place on the morning the volunteer has signed up for. Contact Jim Cluff for more information.
Food Bank: The first Sunday of every month Calvin's congregation collects and delivers items for the North Bay Food Bank.
Emergency Food Bags: Individuals in need can visit the office once each month to receive an emergency food bag. A variety of non-perishable foods and toilet paper roll are included in the bags.
Used Stamps: Thousands of used postage stamps saved by the Calvin family are given to the Canadian Bible Society to help purchase Bibles for people in prison. One pound of used stamps buys one Bible. Please leave at least a ¼ inch border around each stamp. The box can be found in the foyer near the sanctuary doors on the main floor.
Used Eyeglasses: We collect eyeglasses for people in need in African countries. The box can be found in the foyer near the sanctuary doors on the main floor.
