YOUTH CO-ORDINATOR
Position Purpose
- Develop, implement, and maintain a Christ-centered Youth Ministry that reflects, grows and sustains the mission and vision of Calvin Presbyterian Church, which is of a faith community that reaches out with the love of Jesus to all ages in the North Bay area.
- This position seeks to nurture the spiritual growth, discipleship, and integration of children and youth within the life of the church.
Qualifications
- Have a solid commitment to Christ and be passionate for His church.
- A working knowledge of Reformed theology and the Presbyterian tradition, with a commitment to serve within its theological and ecclesial framework.
- Familiar with and support Calvin’s Ministry Plan.
- Successful completion of Vulnerable Sectors Police Check for working in a church environment with young people.
- Builder of solid relationships with children and youth.
- Experience working with young people, preferably in a church environment.
- Ability to develop and nurture Christian maturity and discipleship in young people.
- Ability to strategically plan and develop programs to enhance the spiritual needs of the youth, within the church.
- Strong communication skills with children and youth, parents and church leadership.
- Theological training or education, considered an asset.
Job Responsibilities
- Develop a working knowledge of Calvin’s Leading with Care Policy—a personalized document outlined by the Presbyterian Church in Canada.
- Evaluate the development of the youth ministry and report to Session as needed or when requested.
- To be aligned with the pastoral plan, maintaining frequent communication with the minister and leader of the Christian Education Team.
- Having the initiative and creativity to create or adapt activities according to one's own talents.
- Having the initiative and creativity to create or adapt activities according to the profile of young people.
- Plan and conduct methods for teaching the Bible.
- Leading the youth in the Logos Bible Study (when the program is running)
- Plan and carry out recreational activities with youth and young adults.
- Conduct outreach activities for young people.
- Develop plans for the future of the Youth Ministry and its sustainability.
- To train young volunteers and guide them towards different ministries within the church, taking into account their respective gifts.
- To identify gifts within Calvin’s youth and to facilitate their participation into the broader life of the church, including regular participation in worship services.
- Work as a Christian Education team member and with various other church ministry teams as needed.
- Participate regularly in the weekly worship service (1 hour).
Working Details
- To be paid at a rate of 12 hours per week including during Logos, and Youth Group programs and Sunday worship.
- Working hours have some flexibility, with the exception of Logos, planned Youth Programs, Worship and Teams meetings.
- Logging hours worked will be required.
- Salary up to $20 per hour
